The history of GeoLab begins with the vision of Dr. Robin Steeves, the world-renowned Geodesy and Geomatics Engineer.
Dr. Robin Steeves began his studies in Geomatics in the early 1970s while at the University of New Brunswick, one of the most advanced Geomatics Engineering programs in the world. Robin focused on the mathematics and precision of network adjustments at a time where technology was advancing rapidly.
The ability to conduct adjustments faster and with greater degrees of accuracy than ever before through software was becoming possible. This made Robin eager to develop the world’s most rigorous adjustment process; one that would effectively merge his expertise in mathematics and statistics with the growing efficiency of computers.
It was with this vision that GeoLab was born…
GeoLab launched its first version in 1985.
Since then it has solved network adjustments and statistical analyses across the globe from the United States, Asia, Australia, Mexico, South America, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. Used and trusted by professionals from all areas of the sciences, from Geomatics and Geodesy specialists to surveyors, spatial technical professionals and engineers of every kind, GeoLab has become the world’s leading least-squares network adjustment software boasting highly accurate math models that users and their industries have confidence in.
Over the years newer releases of GeoLab were developed, each version building off the trusted math models with the focus of enhanced user input and experience. With the continuing evolutions of technology as well as in the everchanging real-world applications of Geodesy and Geomatics, there continues to be a great need for progression and innovation.
Robin was selective and diligent in his search for the right ‘home’ for GeoLab. He sought to find a team with an exceptional level of enthusiasm, dedication, and real-work perspective which continues to make GeoLab the optimal choice for least-squares adjustment software.
In 2018, A New Home for GeoLab.
Robin found an exciting new team of professionals to enhance user-experience and provide unprecedented efficiency to the solutions generated by the underlying rigorous mathematical models in GeoLab.
This team is committed to the constant progression and development of GeoLab with new features and improvements being added at a pace like never before!
